Is it still a useful framework for schools?

A few years back, the concept of a ‘Growth Mindset’ spread like a meme through schools across the English-speaking world. Assemblies were delivered, posters were pinned to walls and everyone began correcting students who claimed, ‘I cannot do X’ by adding the word, ‘Yet’.

As you are probably aware, much of this activity led nowhere and schools rapidly moved on to the next big idea. Yet, in the background, evidence began to accumulate. Now is the time to examine this evidence and perhaps draw what may appear to be some unexpected conclusions.
